Description
The Chestnuts is a house dating from the late 18th century, possibly with earlier origins. It is constructed of red and brown brick with a pantiled roof. The building has two storeys and a basement, featuring three bays, with a lower two-storey, single-bay extension set back to the right. On the ground floor, there are three sash windows with sills and glazing bars, all positioned under cambered gauged brick arches. The first floor also has three similar sash windows. The house is topped with a dentilled brick eaves cornice and has raised coped gables supported by shaped kneelers, along with end and axial stacks. The extension to the right includes a 20th-century glazed door and various 20th-century windows. The raised coped gables and end stack feature tumbled-in brick. Notably, the axial stack of the main range appears older than the end stack, suggesting that the house may have early 18th-century origins.
