Description
The Masonic Lodge, originally the United Methodist Chapel, was built in 1830 and is designed in a late Grecian style. This two-storey building features rough rendered walls. The front is topped with an ornate entablature and a pediment that includes a roundel framed in guilloche. It has three bays, separated by Corinthian pilasters, with first-floor windows that have hung sashes and glazing bars, along with a band at the cills. There are recessed panels with decorative mouldings above two ground floor windows, and raised panels below them. The ground floor also has two longer windows. The central doorway is flanked by plain imposts that support an architrave and frieze decorated with acanthus motifs. The doors consist of three panels each, with a masonic roundel inset above.
