Description
The signal box, built in 1911, is a Grade II listed structure located on Beverley Grove Hill Road. It is designed in the North Eastern Railway Southern Division Type 4 style and features red brick construction with ashlar dressings and a weatherboarded upper floor. The building has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys tall. Access to the upper floor is provided by an external timber stair. The windows are small-paned, with ashlar sills and lintels, and the first floor has small-paned horizontal sliding windows. A railed balcony supported by brackets is located on the line side, and there is a stack at the rear. The gables are adorned with bargeboards and finials. This signal box is noted for being a good example of its type and has group value with the nearby station buildings.
