Description
Rossmoor Lodge is a house built in 1816 for General James Wharton. It is constructed of pale brown brick with a cast-tile roof. The symmetrical front elevation has two storeys and three bays. The end bays project slightly. A central glazed and panelled door is set within a segmental arch, flanked by pilasters, and is topped with a fanlight featuring radial glazing. Tripartite sashes with sills are located to the right and left of the door, all under gauged brick arches. A first-floor band extends only to the limits of the projecting bays. The first floor has a tripartite sash over the door, flanked by sashes with glazing bars, set within segmental headed recesses. The projecting bays have blocking courses with square coped abutments. The house has external end and axial stacks, with raised coped gables on shaped kneelers. Rainwater heads are marked with the date "1816" and the initials "I W." A parallel rear range is constructed of red brick.
