Description
The Beeches is a house dating from around 1830. It is constructed of light brown brick in an English garden wall bond, with a slate roof. The symmetrical front elevation is three bays wide. The front door consists of six raised and fielded panels, topped by a fanlight with a radial pattern of glazing, set within a doorcase featuring fluted pilasters and a cornice supported by fluted brackets. The ground-floor windows on either side of the door are 16-pane sashes with sills and wedge lintels. Similar windows are located on the first floor. A chimney stack is situated at the left end of the building, and the roof is hipped. Inside, original features remain, including a staircase with a cut string, scrolled tread-ends, turned newel posts, and a slender ramped handrail. A fireplace in the room to the left features a fluted surround with rosettes, and the main landing has a moulded oval arch.
