Description

This is a late 18th-century house, originally a single property, that has since been divided. It was refronted around 1820-30, and further extended in the late 19th century to the left and right. The house is constructed of red brick, with a white brick facade, gauged brick detailing, and ashlar dressings, topped with a slate roof. The main range is three stories high and originally had three bays, now featuring seven first-floor windows. The outer bays project as full-height canted bays. A 20th-century glazed door is set within a Doric porch topped with a segmental pediment. On the ground floor, there is a sill band beneath two-pane sash windows, each set within a cambered gauged brick arch. The first floor also has a sill band and sash windows with glazing bars, similarly within arched surrounds. The second floor features six-pane sash windows. A moulded eaves cornice runs around the building, with a hipped roof and end chimney stacks. The left return side retains original late 18th-century sash windows with glazing bars on the first and second floors, each set below a flat brick arch. Very few original interior features remain; one first-floor bedroom retains simple late 18th-century panelling hidden beneath wallpaper.
