Description
The stable range, built in 1849 for William Marshall, is located approximately 30 metres west of the cart-shed/granary at Enholmes Farm. Constructed from orange-brown brick with orange rubbed-brick dressings, it features a pantile roof and is U-shaped in plan, with a central courtyard facing west and a butcher's shop situated in the north-west corner. This single-storey building has a higher single-storey butcher's shop at the north-east corner.
On the east side, there are three openings: a central round-headed opening, with inserted doors beneath timber lintels on either side, one of which leads to the butcher's shop and has cut through a blocked segmental-arched opening. The hipped roofs add to its character. The north side includes three segmental-headed windows and an inserted door to the right.
Within the courtyard, the east range features a central round-headed opening flanked by a pair of doors to the left, and to the right, there is a door, a window, and a wider doorway. The north and south ranges each have two doors and five windows, all with segmental arches. The stalls were removed in the 20th century, and the building was disused at the time of the resurvey. This stable range is part of a large early industrial farm.
