Description
The brick wall, gateway, and gate piers to No 52 are located on the west side of Eastgate in Beverley. The wall, which is approximately 10 feet high and 70 feet long, features a mix of red brick and stone, incorporating some older materials alongside modern work. It includes a late 16th-century doorway and is broken forward to accommodate the gateway, which is topped with a triangular pediment made of moulded brick and a heavily moulded brick four-centred arch with jambs. This structure is part of the Old Friary, with some sections reportedly taken down. Additionally, the garden wall facing Minster Yard is about 6 feet tall and likely dates from the 18th or early 19th century, featuring two gate piers topped with ball finials. National Monument Register Photograph of Gateway only.
