Description
The Sun Inn is a building that dates from the 16th century and late 18th century. It stands two storeys high and features a combination of half-timbering and colour-washed brick. The first floor is half-timbered, with some sections filled with herringbone brick, and is colour-washed. This floor overhangs the ground floor, supported by a series of plain corbels, which are the ends of the joists.
On the first floor, there are two reglazed sash windows and one small leaded casement window with glazing bars. The ground floor features an early 19th-century shop front that has a reeded frame with paterae, but it has been converted into a regular window with large panes of glass. There are also two late 18th-century sash windows and one modern door on the ground floor. The brickwork on this level is roughcast and colour-washed, and the building has a new tile roof. The interior has been altered, and the painted gable end displays tumbled brickwork.
