Description
The coach-house to Heigholme Hall, now converted into a house, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings, featuring a timber, lead, and graduated slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with the center bay projecting forward beneath a low pediment, creating a symmetrical appearance.
The central entrance, which was originally for coaches, has been replaced with modern sliding glazed doors set within an elliptical rusticated arch that has plain projecting imposts and a raised keyblock. On either side of this entrance are six-panel doors topped with fanlights, also set under elliptical rusticated arches.
On the first floor, the center bay features a Diocletian window with a sill beneath a rusticated arch and a projecting keyblock, flanked by keyed oculi in rusticated surrounds. The gable displays a monogrammed shield. The building is finished with a moulded timber eaves cornice and has timber lanterns with round-headed windows featuring radial glazing, capped by a pyramidal lead dome and topped with a weather-vane shaped like a flying duck. The roof is hipped.
