Description
These stables were built around 1830, with later additions, for Sir Tatton Sykes, 4th Baronet. They are constructed from reddish-pink brick in English garden wall bond and feature a pantile roof. The building is a single tall storey with 10 bays. The front has a blind elliptically arched arcade, mostly with divided plank stable doors beneath fanlights that have vertical glazing bars extending across the arch. Bays 2 and 3 include multi-paned windows, bay 1 has a plank door and a 4-pane casement window, and bay 9 features a vertically paned window. The roof is hipped and swept, topped with ashlar ridge tiles, and there is a stack at the rear.
