Description
This is a row of brick houses built in the 1840s, originally known as Albert Street, laid out by Edmund and Gregory Page. Gregory Page lived at number 13. The row comprises numbers 13 to 33 of Railway Street. The houses are three storeys high, with each having two windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor. Many windows retain their original glazing bars. Carved lintels are present above the windows. The doorways are substantial, featuring engaged fluted Ionic columns, entablatures, and panelled reveals, matching the six-panel doors. The doorway at number 13 is wider, with columns standing on small plinths and a moulded pediment. The corresponding doorway at the other end of the row has been removed. Some original foot scrapers are visible. The doorways are similar to those at numbers 64 and 65 North Bar Without. A photograph of the row is included on the National Monument Register.
