Description

This mid-to-late 18th century stable and dovecote stands approximately 30 metres north-east of Elmtree Farm Cottage. The building is constructed of brick with a pantile roof and is rectangular in plan. It is two storeys high, featuring a single first-floor opening. The south side has a pair of stable doors set within blocked openings, flanking a central brick pier. A two-course brick band runs at first-floor level. Above this is a boarded door set beneath a segmental arch. Stepped eaves lead to raised gables with tumbled-in brick, topped with square brick finials. The ridge carries a central, square-section wooden dovecote with four dove-holes on its right side, and a belled hipped roof. Small four-pane windows are visible on the left and right returns, with a three-course stepped brick band at eaves level, supporting a central stone shelf below.
