Description

The Dovecote, dating from the late 18th century, is constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond and features a stone slate roof with a lead roof on the lantern. It has an octagonal plan and includes doors with segmental heads on sides one and three. The structure is topped with an octagonal pyramidal roof that is crowned by a lantern containing pigeon-holes, a modillioned cornice, a Baroque dome, and a fox weathervane. Houghton Hall, where the dovecote is located, is listed in the HBMC County Register of Gardens at Grade II.
