Description
Pear Tree Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring stone dressings and a pantiled roof. The building has a rectangular main block with a lower wing to the left. Originally, there was a central direct entry, but the front door has now been replaced by a window. The main block is two storeys high and consists of three bays. All windows are sashes with glazing bars, set in plain wood surrounds beneath channelled wedge lintels. The eaves cornice is dentilled brick, and there are end stacks with tumbled-in brick to the raised gables. The lower wing includes a 19th-century tripartite sash with glazing bars under a channelled wedge lintel on the ground floor, and a 20th-century casement in the attic. It also has an end stack and tumbled-in brick to the raised gable. On the rear elevation, there is a 19th-century door in a plain wood surround, topped with a gabled canopy. Inside, there is a cut string staircase featuring turned balusters and a ramped handrail.
