Description

This is a lodge, likely dating to around 1880, probably designed by Edmund Kirby. It was built using a combination of coursed and squared rubble stone, brick, and rendered surfaces, with decorative timber framing and a plain tiled roof. The lodge has a one-and-a-half storey design, with a two-unit plan. The main gable faces the road, while a single-storey bay to the rear is a later extension. A full-height gabled porch, supported by bulbous pilasters and featuring square-panelled, decorated timber framing, is centrally placed on the long wall and contains a Venetian window above the doorway. The rear elevation has a balancing gabled dormer also with a Venetian window. A coved rendered cornice runs along the eaves. The front gable features paired three-light, moulded brick mullioned windows on the ground floor, divided by a blind trefoil panel. The first floor has square-panelled timber framing that is jettied on moulded brackets, and a canted oriel bay window with a projecting gable. An axial stack punctuates the roofline.
