Description
This is a house located at 5 Neston Road, built in 1893 by Douglas and Fordham. It features a timber frame on a stone base with a tiled roof, standing two storeys high with an attic and one bay. The first floor juts out over the ground floor, and the gable is prominent. The ground floor has panelled posts, while the first floor displays half-octagonal shafts and decorative panels with fleurs-de-lys beneath the windows. The bressumers and bargeboards are also decorative. The windows are fitted with leaded glazing; the ground floor includes a six-light canted oriel window with cusped heads, and the first floor has a five-light window with decorative heads, alongside a small two-light window with traceried heads to the right. The attic features a three-light window. The entrance is marked by a Tudor-headed lintel and a plank door with strap hinges. On the left side of the house, there are two lateral brick stacks, which connect this building to Nos. 6 and 7. The front stack has round shafts with a zig-zag pattern.
