Description

A terrace of five houses located on Boundary Road in Port Sunlight, built around 1905 by Grayson and Ould, and rebuilt in 1947 after wartime destruction. The houses are constructed with roughcast rendering over a brick base, incorporating some timber framing, and have tile roofs. They are two storeys high and arranged in five bays, with a recessed wing to the left return and a single-storey bay within the re-entrant angle. The second and fifth bays project forward beneath gables, with the first floors being timber-framed. A tile canopy covers the ground floor, except for the second and fifth bays, which have a timbered top frieze. The windows are leaded casements: the ground floor windows are four-light units, while the first-floor windows are arranged as 5:3:2:2:3:5-light windows. The entrances feature plank doors with leaded lights. Two stacks are positioned across the axis of the terrace. The re-entrant bay displays a timbered gable. The left return features deep, bracketed eaves above a seven-light canted bay window, and a tall chimney stack. The return wing has canted ground floor angles and timber-framed first floor, with a four-light ground floor window and a six-light first floor window set beneath a canopy. A flat canopy shelters the entrance. The rear elevation is similar and includes dormers. The spine beams have stop-chamfered stops with run-out stops.
