Description
22 to 28 Manor Place is a terrace of four houses built around 1856 for James and George Wilson. The houses are constructed of brick and feature a hipped slate roof. They are two stories tall and consist of six bays, with the end bays projecting forward. The windows have gauged-brick cambered arches and are sashed with glazing bars. The end bays have rectangular bay windows topped with hipped roofs and small-paned casements, which have been altered. The entrances also feature gauged-brick cambered arches, overlights with glazing bars, and four-flush-panel doors. The returns have 20th-century flat-roofed projections. There are three cross-axial stacks and rear lean-to wings. This terrace is part of a planned village for Price's Patent Candle Company, which is one of the earliest examples of a model industrial village.
