Description
This is a terrace of seven houses at 16-28 Primrose Hill, Bebington, built in 1899 as part of the Port Sunlight model village development, designed by Huon A. Matear. The houses are built with pebble-dash rendering on a brick base, timber-framed gables, and a tile roof. They are one storey with attics, arranged in seven bays, with the end bays projecting under the gables. Two-storey re-entrant blocks feature battered walls and return gables with finials. Deep eaves form canopies over the entrances, supported by posts. The third, fourth, and fifth bays have rectangular bay windows. Ground floor windows are four-light casements with small panes, set within segmental heads. First floor dormers are raking, and upper windows are paired four-light windows. The re-entrant blocks have ground floor two-light windows and return first floor three-light windows. Segmental-headed entrances have doors with leaded lights and narrow side windows. There are two cross-axial stacks, along with gable end and return lateral stacks. The rear elevation is similar, with pebble-dash rendering and raking dormers, as well as privies.
