Description
This is a pair of houses located at 294 and 296 New Chester Road, built in 1898 by Douglas and Fordham. The houses are constructed of brick with a shingled first floor and feature a hipped tile roof. They are two storeys high and consist of two bays. The first floor is jettied, supported by end brackets and central buttresses. The windows include leaded casements; the ground floor has six-light canted bay windows, while the first floor has paired three-light windows with cornices and plastered gablets. There is a stack in the roof slope. The returns have buttresses that are flush with the front, lateral stacks, and windows and entrances with stone surrounds. The doors are made of planks with strap hinges and feature three leaded lights. At the rear, there are flat-topped roof dormers flanking a sloped stack, along with privies.
