Description

This is a terrace of eight houses, numbers 64 to 78 Bolton Road, Bebington, built in 1912 by William and Segar Owen as part of the Port Sunlight estate. The houses are of pebbledash render with brick dressings and a tile roof. They are arranged as one storey with an attic, with six bays, the end bays projecting forwards. The roofs over the second and fifth bays extend to form a canopy over the ground floor. The houses have a brick base. The windows are a mix of leaded glazing and double-chamfered mullions. The central bays on the ground floor have timber-framed windows with four and five lights. The second and fifth bays feature transomed, 7-light canted bay windows, while the end bays have paired 2-light windows. The first floor features gabled windows in the central and end bays, with four-light windows in the central bays and paired three-light windows in the end bays. Dormers are gabled and have six lights, positioned over the second and fifth bays. The entrances have plank doors; central entrances are straight-headed, while others are round-headed. The property has two lateral and two cross-axial chimney stacks. The left return front has projecting gable end bays and two internal chimney stacks with diagonal shafts. The right return front is gabled. The rear elevation includes five stacks in the roof slope and sashed windows, as well as privies.
