Description
A terrace of eight houses at 8-15 Jubilee Crescent, Beighton, dating to 1938 and designed by J. Lomax Simpson as part of the Port Sunlight model village. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings, some plaster and weatherboard cladding, and tile roofs. They are arranged in a crescent shape with returns, and are two storeys high with 14 bays. The end bays feature projecting lateral stacks with random quoins and small windows. The 2nd, 3rd, 12th, and 13th bays have jettied first floors supported by braced posts. The 4th and 11th bays project under jettied gables. Windows are generally leaded casements, mostly of three lights, with paired rectangular bay windows to the 5th, 6th, 9th, and 10th bays. The 4th and 11th bays have two-storey four-light canted bay windows, while the 2nd bay has a canted bay window and the 13th bay has a half-canted window adjoining a porch. Dormers with weatherboarded gables are present on the first floor. Entrances consist of plank doors with small-paned windows. Gable ends feature four-light ground floor windows. The ground floors of the canted bays are under lean-to roofs. The returns have gabled bays mirroring the main design, followed by a recessed bay and two-storey re-entrant porches with doors featuring vertical strips and strap hinges. There are seven cross-axial stacks. The rear elevations include flat-roofed projections.
