Description

A terrace of four houses at 46-52 Manor Place, Bebington, dating to circa 1856 and built for James and George Wilson. The terrace was part of a planned village development for the Price’s Patent Candle Company, representing one of the earliest examples of a model industrial village. The houses are constructed of brick with hipped slate roofs. They are two storeys high and extend six bays, with the end bays projecting forward. The windows have gauged-brick cambered arches and include sashed windows with glazing bars. The end bays also feature rectangular bay windows with hipped roofs and small-paned casements. The entrances are similarly detailed with gauged-brick cambered arches, over lights with glazing bars, and 20th-century doors. There are three cross-axial stacks. Later 20th-century flat-roofed projections are visible on the returns, along with rear lean-to wings.
