Description
A terrace of six houses on Park Road South, Birkenhead, built around 1850. The houses are constructed of coursed and squared stone with a Welsh slate roof. They are arranged symmetrically across two storeys with an attic and basement, creating a unified architectural design. The outer pairs of houses each have a two-window range, with one gabled bay. These bays feature a canted bay window with transomed casements on the ground floor, above which are paired four-pane sash windows. A pointed arched window sits in the gable apex. The other windows are narrow two-pane sashes to the first floor. Side entrances are present on the outer houses, each with a door and side-lights topped by a stepped hood mould. The inner houses at each end are similar, but feature sash windows on the ground floor and doorways set within shouldered porch recesses. The central pair of houses have a gabled design with outer entrances featuring four-panelled doors and side-lights with stepped hood moulds. They feature tripartite windows divided by chamfered mullions, and three four-pane sash windows to the first floor. Very steep gabled dormers are incorporated into the roof.
