Description

Nos. 38 to 44 Manor Place is a terrace of four houses built around 1872 for James and George Wilson. The houses are constructed of brick and feature a hipped slate roof. They are two storeys tall and consist of eight bays. The windows have segmental heads and are sashed with glazing bars. The entrances are round-headed and have 20th-century doors. There are four stacks paired across the ridge, and the rear has lean-to wings. This terrace is part of a planned village for Price's Patent Candle Company, which is one of the earliest examples of a model industrial village.
