Description

A terrace of four houses at 18-24 York Street, Bebington, was built around 1854 for James and George Wilson. The houses are constructed of brick with a hipped slate roof. They are two storeys tall and feature eight bays. The windows have gauged-brick flat arches and are sash windows with glazing bars. The entrances have Tudor-arched surrounds, fanlights with glazing bars, and four-panel doors; the doors at numbers 18 and 22 are 20th-century replacements. Three stacks are positioned across the building's axis. The rear of the houses has gabled wings. The terrace is part of a planned village developed for the Price's Patent Candle Company and represents one of the earliest examples of a model industrial village.
