Description
Manor Farmhouse is a building located in Rainhill, dated 1662, although it is said to have cellars from the 14th century. The farmhouse features a porch with a four-centred doorway and an upper three-light window, along with another window in the gable of the porch. There are three-light windows on each floor flanking the porch, all with stone mullions that have convex and fillet mouldings. To the right, there is a large gabled wing with three windows on each floor; one of these is an older three-light window, while the others have been enlarged. The gable also has an oval "eye" at the top. A low single-storey addition on the right has one five-light window and two three-light windows, all with simple chamfered mullions. The building is constructed of red sandstone and has a stone roof. Inside, it is said to contain a water-clock, powder cupboards, oil paintings on the stone lintels of the chimney-breasts, and a cheese-press in the basement.
