Description

The Cafe on Lakeside, located approximately 20 meters west of the boathouse adjacent to the Lakeside Inn, is a building likely constructed between the creation of Marine Lake in 1892 and its opening by King George V in 1913. It features a timber-frame structure with plaster panels and a red tiled roof adorned with pierced ridge tiles, showcasing a Neo-Tudor style and a small cruciform plan.

The exterior consists of one tall storey with a brick plinth and geometrical framing on the panels, along with deeply oversailing eaves. The north front has a prominent gabled center that contains a doorway with a fanlight, flanked by small rectangular windows. At the east and west ends, large decorative brackets support significant projections of the roof gables, which are embellished with pierced bargeboarding.

The interior has not been inspected. The cafe forms part of a group with the Boathouse, located approximately 20 meters to the northeast, and the Lakeside Inn, which is adjacent to the north side of the cafe.
