Description
This is a stone structure, believed to be a folly, located approximately 70 metres to the north-east of the Manor House in Maghull. The date of the structure is uncertain, but it is probably from the 18th century and incorporates a lintel inscribed "RMK/1667". The building is made of dressed stone with brick inner walls and is approximately square in shape, although it has no roof. The wall on the east side has collapsed. There is an entrance on the south side featuring a lintel with a recessed cambered soffit. The door, which is now collapsing as of 1985, is on strap hinges and has an overlight that is not glazed.
