Description
Wavertree Town Hall, now a public house, was built in 1872 and designed by J.E. Reeve. The building is constructed of stone and features two storeys with five bays. The ground floor showcases channelled rustication, a sill band, and a cornice, along with rusticated pilaster strips. The first floor includes a sill course and a Corinthian pilastrade with paired pilasters on plinths and a balustrade.
The windows are adorned with architraves; those on the ground floor have triple keys with carved fruit, while the first-floor windows feature panelled aprons, enriched friezes, and consoled cornices. All windows are sashed with glazing bars. The central bay contains an entrance with a glazed doorcase and a ten-panel door, framed by an Ionic porch with paired columns and the inscription "A.D. TOWN HALL 1872."
Above, the central first-floor tripartite window has a consoled cornice over the central light, a balustraded balcony displaying the badge of Wavertree, and a Corinthian aedicule with paired columns and an acroterion. The property is also enclosed by iron area railings topped with spear heads.
