Description

The Hermitage is a house built before 1815 for ironfounder John Cragg. It features a stucco exterior and a slate roof, standing two storeys tall with six bays. The first bay is recessed, while three bays project forward, with a central bay that also projects. The windows on the first floor of the three projecting bays have two cusped lights and label moulds, while the other windows are either sashed or have casements. The entrance has a four-centred head. To the left, in front of the recessed bay, there is a delicate Gothic verandah made of cast iron.
