Description

The Chapel, formerly used as a Wesleyan chapel, was built between 1878 and 1880 by Picton junior. It is constructed of rock-faced stone with red granite shafts. The building is five storeys high and has five bays. It is designed in a Romanesque style. The central doorway is round arched and features granite shafts and iron gates, flanked by trefoil-headed doors, with a blocked door on the left side. Above the doors are round-headed windows. All windows have small-paned iron casements. A sill band runs around the building at the level of the second floor, supported by corbels. Second and third floor windows are located behind an arcade with granite shafts. The gable features a Lombard frieze and a poppyhead finial, above which is a five-light window and a cusped roundel.
