Description
This building, located at 81-89 Lord Street, is an office block constructed in 1901 by W. Aubrey Thomas. It is made of stone, featuring horizontal bands of red and orange stone. The ground floor includes four shop fronts and a door leading to No 87. The building rises four storeys with attics above. The façade is characterized by three large segmental arches with foliated caps supported by engaged columns, framing three storeys, with the middle storey recessed in a reverse bay. Each of these storeys contains stone mullioned and transomed windows. The fourth floor features a series of pointed arched lancets arranged in a 4:5:3 pattern. Additionally, four octagonal turrets that are panelled and trefoiled enhance the façade. The overall design is reminiscent of Siena Cathedral.
