Description

The Mersey Tunnel entrance, built between 1925 and 1934, was designed by engineers Sir B. Mott and J. Brodie, with architect H. J. Rowse. The entrance is made of Portland stone and features a decorative plaque above the tunnel mouth. To the right, there is a long curving wall topped with reeded capping, which ends with a plaque displaying a winged wheel motif. Iron lamp standards line this wall. The shorter wall to the left does not have any notable features.
