Description

The Church of Our Lady and St Nicholas is a church that features a tower, which is the oldest part of the structure, built between 1811 and 1815 by Thomas Harrison of Chester. The tower is constructed of ashlar stone in the Decorated Gothic style and includes four angle buttresses that end in crocketed finials. It has a flying buttress that supports a graceful open lantern, topped with a ship weather vane. The remainder of the church was rebuilt in 1952 by Edward C Butler following damage from the war, and it is designed in the Perpendicular Gothic style.
