Description

The Rathbone Monument is a Grade II listed structure located in St. John's Gardens. It was erected in 1899 to commemorate William Rathbone, who died in 1902. The monument was designed by George Frampton and features a bronze figure of Rathbone, depicted in robes, standing on a stone pedestal. An inscription on the monument highlights Rathbone's role as the founder of the District Nursing movement and his contributions to the establishment of Liverpool and Wales Universities.
