Description
Nos. 43 to 47 Bold Street, formerly the Liverpool Union Bank, was built around 1885 by G. E. Grayson. This four-storey stone building features five bays. The ground floor currently has three modern shop fronts. The first floor includes four windows, a Greek key patterned frieze, and a cornice that is interrupted by a central segmental pediment supported by scroll brackets. This pediment has a carved tympanum displaying arms and an inserted marble plaque above it. The second floor is rusticated with a sill course, and the windows are framed in architraves with consoled segmental pediments. The top floor features five round-arched windows, four of which have curved iron balconies. A large entablature adorned with modillions and lion masks completes the design.
