Description

The Cunard Building is an office building constructed between 1913 and 1916 by architects Willink and Thicknesse. It is made of Portland stone and consists of six storeys with nine bays on the main facade and 17-bay returns. The ground floor features rustication and is battered, with round-headed windows, while the central bay projects to form the entrance, adorned with carved animals as finials. The second floor has windows with stone balustraded balconies, and the third floor windows are topped with cornices on brackets. Above the fourth floor is a frieze, and the top floor is decorated with shields and drapery between the windows, along with a moulded frieze on modillions. The building has a plain top parapet, and the other facades are treated similarly. Additionally, there are two simple bronze lamp holders at the entrances.
