Description
The war memorial located in front of the Cunard Building commemorates the First and Second World Wars and was created around 1920. It features a granite pedestal topped by a tall, unfluted column with a copper capital adorned with an anchor design on a rope fillet. Atop the column stands a copper figure of Victory, depicted nude and holding a laurel wreath, with a shield and drapery, positioned on the prow of a ship. The column's shaft is designed as a columna rostrata, which is decorated with the beaks of ships.
