Description
Redbourne is a house that has been converted into a local authority hostel. It was built between 1881 and 1882 and extended in 1891. The building is constructed of red brick and features a red tiled roof. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has four bays, with the third bay projecting forward beneath a timbered gable. There is a drip mould over the ground floor and a top billeted frieze and eaves. The windows have lintels and are sash windows with glazing bars on the upper sashes. The first bay includes a hipped dormer, while the second bay has a gable roof dormer. The third bay features an entrance porch with a glazed lean-to structure. The building is topped with tall brick stacks. Inside, the entrance hall contains a fireplace with a Jacobean style overmantel.
