Description
Nos 1 to 15 Gordon Place, which includes No 3 Bridge Street, is a terrace of nine houses built in the late 19th century. The houses are constructed of common brick, featuring red brick and stone dressings, and have slate roofs. Each house has two storeys and one bay. There is a flush brick band at the ground floor and a sill band at the first floor, topped with a brick cornice. The windows have wedge lintels, with most being sash windows that do not have glazing bars. The entrances feature segmental brick heads and red bricks on the jambs, with 20th-century doors and overlights. The chimney stacks have moulded caps. Nos 5, 11, and 13 have 20th-century casement windows, and No 5 has a four-panel door. The first bay of the terrace forms a return to No 3 Bridge Street, which has one bay. This terrace is a good example of 19th-century workers' housing located on a pedestrian street, complete with blue tiles and a central gutter.
