Description

This drinking fountain, located at the north end of the lake in Sefton Park, is a replica of the Eros statue from the Shaftesbury Memorial in London, designed by Alfred Gilbert. It was created in 1932 and is signed by the founder A B Burton. The fountain is made of bronze and features an octagonal base with a continuous trough. It is decorated in a style characteristic of Art Nouveau, including motifs of fish and baby mermaids. The fountain has eight bowls positioned over the trough and numerous openings for water jets, with the top statue depicting Eros.
