Description
No. 238 is the lodge to Anfield Cemetery, built in 1862 by architects Lucy and Littler. The lodge is constructed from snecked stone with ashlar dressings and features a banded slate roof. It has an L-shaped plan with a porch at the angle and stands two storeys tall. The windows have double chamfered reveals, and the left side of the building includes a ground floor triangular oriel window. The porch has a gable on the return side and an entrance with an enriched shouldered lintel. There is an adjoining octagonal stair turret that is set back from a square base, featuring a lancet window, an embattled parapet, and a short spire topped with a fleuron. The building also has two stone chimney stacks.
