Description
The Dock Traffic Office, located at Albert Dock, was built between 1846 and 1847 by architect Philip Hardwick, with the top storey added by Jesse Hartley in 1848. This historic dock office is constructed of brick with stone dressings and stands three storeys high, with a basement, featuring a total of 5 x 7 bays. The windows are designed with gauged brick flat arches and are sashed with glazing bars. A notable feature is the tetrastyle Tuscan portico, which includes a frieze, entablature, and pediment made of iron, complemented by a brick tympanum. The building also has a cornice, four windows in the attic, a stone parapet, and paired battered stacks that connect with arches.
