Description

This is a terrace of eight houses located at 2-16 Gordon Place. The houses were built in the late 19th century. They are constructed of common brick with red brick and stone dressings, and have slate roofs. The design is of two storeys, with a single bay for each house. The ground floor is marked by a flush brick band, and there is a first-floor sill band and a top brick cornice. The windows have wedge lintels and are mostly modern casements. The entrances feature segmental brick heads with red brick jambs, and have modern doors and overlights. The chimneys have moulded caps. Houses number 6 and 16 have sash windows without glazing bars, and house number 10 has a four-panel door. Gordon Place is a good example of 19th-century housing for workers, located on a pedestrian street with blue tiles and a central gutter.
