Description

The Bowers is an early 17th-century house, altered in the 18th century and 20th century. It is constructed of pebbledashed brick with a slate roof. The house is three storeys high and has a three-bay front, flanked by two narrow, projecting gabled wings, each with one bay. The windows are modern and feature glazing bars within rendered surrounds. First and second-floor windows in the wings are offset towards the centre. The central bay contains a door with a stone surround, including pilasters, a moulded elliptical head, and a fanlight. Chimneys are located on the ridge of the roof, above the central bay. A rendered eight-light mullioned window is present on the right-hand return wall. The interior contains exposed chamfered ceiling beams and a closed-well staircase.
