Description
Nos. 8, 9, and 10 on Hollins Lane are three houses that were originally built as one in 1714 and have since been altered. They are constructed from sandstone rubble, with Nos. 9 and 10 rendered, and feature a slate roof. The buildings are two storeys high, with each house consisting of one bay.
No. 8, located on the left, has sashed windows without glazing bars, featuring plain stone surrounds on the ground floor and plain reveals above. There is a blocked window surround on each floor, and the door on the right has plain reveals. No. 9 has sashed windows with rendered surrounds, and its door on the right has a moulded surround with a shaped lintel inscribed with 'AR? 1714'. No. 10 features a modern ground-floor window and a sashed window above, both with rendered surrounds, and its doorway is located in the right-hand return wall. The houses have coped gables, with chimneys on the gables and to the right of the door to No. 10.
Inside, No. 8 contains a 3-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window in the original rear wall, along with axial main joists that have edge roll moulding. No. 9 includes a baffle inside the door and axial beams.
