Description

Boundary Farmhouse dates from around 1700 to 1730 and has been altered since its original construction. It is built of coursed thin sandstone rubble with a stone slate roof and brick chimneys. The farmhouse's design is a transitional double-depth two-unit plan, with a shallow rear service area under a catslide roof. It is approximately two storeys high and has two windows, presenting an almost symmetrical facade. A two-course band runs along the front. The doorway is slightly to the left of the centre, featuring a plain surround and a four-panel door sheltered by a pitched stone slab canopy supported by wooden brackets and iron struts. Double-chamfered stone mullion windows are evenly spaced on both floors; the ground-floor windows have five lights each with hoodmoulds, and those above have three lights. Gable chimneys are present, with the chimney on the left side rebuilt using glazed brick. The rear of the farmhouse is a single storey and has a catslide roof.
