Description

Tyrer’s Farmhouse is probably of the late 18th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed of red brick in an English garden wall bond (five courses of brick with one row of headers), with sandstone dressings and a stone slate roof. The building consists of a main front range with a single depth of two rooms, a rear wing to the left, and an outshut to the rear under a catslide roof.

It is a low two-story building with two windows, displaying a symmetrical facade. A gabled porch is centrally positioned, featuring a round-headed outer arch and a panelled inner door. There are two three-light casement windows on each floor, each with raised sills and flat arches. Chimneys are situated in the gable ends.

The left return wall has a lean-to addition which overlaps the rear wing. A doorway is present at the rear of this addition. The rear wing’s side wall has a three-light window on each floor, with a sliding sash window at ground floor level and a casement window above.

The farmhouse forms a group with a barn located approximately 20 meters to the west.
